Two primary features define the 1673–size and construction. The 13” length makes you a big target at first, letting you extend your reach in every direction to reel in high and wide throws. The cut-out construction–where the glove separates between the toe and palm–creates a larger catching area, meaning a wider space within the palm where the ball can hit and reliably be funneled into the pocket. Additionally, this design is easier to break in than traditional first base mitts.
